Hackers Take Over Twitter Account of Westboro Baptist Church Spokeswoman

The Twitter account of Shirley Lynn Phelps-Roper -- a spokesperson of the controversial Westboro Baptist Church -- has been hacked. The hacker claims to be part of the new UGNazicollective.
After overtaking the account, the hacker -- who took the name of former UGNazi mastermind Cosmo -- started retweeting tens of tweets in which users condemned the ways of the Westboro Baptist Church.
Earlier today we learned that Anonymous hacktivists launched an operation against the Westboro Baptist Church, after the organization decided to picket the funerals of the ones killed in the Newtown shooting.
As a result, Anonymous not only disrupted several of their websites by launching DDOS attacks against them, but they've also leaked the personal details of several members.
At the time of writing, Shirley Lynn Phelps-Roper's Twitter account appeared to still be controlled by the hacker.

Anonymous Press Release - We Did NOT Attack Facebook

Anonymous Press Release - We Did NOT Attack Facebook Friday - June 1, 2012 4:00 PM ET USA This morning it was reported by many mainstream media outlets that Anonymous had attacked the servers of Facebook and caused interruptions in service in a number of countries. We have investigated these allegations and have found them utterly false and without basis. First we will share what we found, and how these false claims came to be - then we will address, hopefully once and for all - the Anonymous position with regard to Facebook. As this false report began to go viral in the mainstream media this morning, key Anonymous organizers from all over the world and in many countries gathered in the IRC channels we use to communicate. A quick poll of everyone present, representing a very broad spectrum of the global collective - quickly showed that no one in the actual Anonymous knew anything about an attack on Facebook. Most showed surprise because we all believed that we had successfully squashed the fail Op Facebook months ago, setting the record straight once and for all. So having determined that no one in Anonymous knew anything about an attack on Facebook, we then turned our attention to the facts. We began with the statement released by Facebook. In that statement they indicated that they knew what the problem was, what it was that caused these service interruptions in various countries - and that it was an INTERNAL issue caused by a problem with some of their servers. Not only did Anonymous NOT attack Facebook, but there was no attack at all. Facebook IT's were just having a bad day. So what happened here? How did mainstream media get it so completely wrong? A careful analysis of the events this morning tell the story. It's a story of lies, deceit - and mainstream media failing in it's most basic journalistic obligations. None of which surprises us much. This mornings disaster begins with a single tweet from a Twitter account of a notoriously unreliable group known as @YourAnonNews. Having discovered that people in some countries were having problems logging into their Facebook accounts, they thought it would be cool to take credit for this on behalf of Anonymous. This tweet was then taken as fact, and reported by several tech journals including PC Magazine. From there is snow-balled and went viral in the mainstream media. There is more than enough blame here to go around. Obviously the idiots at YourAnonNews, who are notorious for these sorts of shenanigans - are mostly responsible. They know well that Op Facebook was long ago rejected by the global collective of Anonymous. They also know well that one of the guiding principles of Anonymous is that we never attack the media, and that includes personal or social media. Finally they are well aware that many Anonymous cells and branches actually have Facebook pages, and that shutting down Facebook would enrage the collective - even if they were capable of such a feat. @YourAnonNews is followed by many in mainstream media, but now is a good time to point out that they are universally discredited within the global collective of Anonymous, and there are far better and more reliable Anonymous Twitter accounts that journalists can follow. We will provide you with some resources to this end at the conclusion of this release. Now, for the culpability of mainstream media in today's fiasco. As a simple search online will show any of you journalists, there are MANY accounts and blogs disseminating Anonymous news and propaganda. As we stated above, we shall provide you with some resources in this release. We have dozens of reliable Twitter accounts, websites, blogs - and even a couple of Internet Radio Stations. If you are going to report on the activities of Anonymous, then take some time and plug into multiple information resources - and then CROSS CHECK your facts amongst these resources BEFORE reporting on Anonymous. This isn't just for OUR benefit, but for your own. Because nothing brings discredit on you mainstream reporters faster than to be played for fools as you were today. Finally let us, while we have your attention - address the Anonymous attitude towards Facebook. The fact is that Anonymous has a love-hate relationship with Facebook. While we enjoy the power of social networking media to do our work, bring positive change to the world and spread our message - we utterly despise the current management of Facebook and it's evil anti-privacy and anti-anonymity policies. We are also not at all happy about their cooperation with law enforcement and intelligence agencies in tyrannical countries around the world, including the USA. Facebook has much to be ashamed of, and has earned the hatred of all human rights and information activists. But that said, they ARE a personal and social media platform. One that has been used by these same activists to bring about much freedom and justice in this world. Anonymous has certain core principles, and one of those is that we NEVER attack the media - even media we strongly disagree with. There is NO Op Facebook, and there NEVER was. Anonymous did NOT attack Facebook, and we NEVER will. SIGNED -- Anonymous

12 Anonymous Romania Members Arrested by Police

The Romanian police have announced that several members of the Anonymous Romania group have been arrested. DIICOT, the Romanian Organized Crime Unit, raided the homes of 12 members, out of the 14 that they believe were part of the group, located in 10 different cities.
The police claim that the 24-year-old Gabriel Balaneasa was the leader of the group. He used several nicknames online, such as "lulzcart," "anonsboat," "anonsweb" and "carman." Balaneasa, a native of Piatra Neamt, formed the group along with Fabian Gabor and Picos Mihai Emil, the police says (in Romanian).

Other members later joined the group that launched several attacks on local and international websites. Some of the most recent attacks targeted the official website of the Bucharest City Hall and agovernment portal

Their preferred method of attack, SQL Injection according to the police, wasn't particularly sophisticated, but it was enough to bring down some 29 sites that the police know of.

ANONYMOUS WARNS INDIA FOR BAN ON CENSORSHIP

On a day the government said in the Rajya Sabha it would build consensus on rules for controlling internet content, an international hacking group named Anonymous reportedly breached the websites of the ruling Congress and the Supreme Court of India with the name #OpINDIA.

"The hacking was reportedly in response to the blocking of torrent site thepiratebay.com and vimeo.com. While the Supreme Court of India website came back online after a little while, the Congress website was still offline at the time of filing of this report"

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) website had also reportedly come under attack.

The Delhi Bar Council also claimed that its website was defaced by unidentified hackers. Hacker group Anonymous is believed to have attacked the websites in response to the Centre blocking torrent portal Pirate Bay and video-sharing Vimeo. The group is said to have launched “MT Operation India” to protest the government's censorship plan. While both the Congress and SC admitted their sites (supremecourtofindia.nic.in and aicc.org.in) were down for sometime, they denied the sites were hacked.

Anonymous Central had earlier tweeted, "Namaste #India, your time has come to trash the current government and install a new one. Good luck."

That attack came just days after telecom minister Kapil Sibal asked social media networks, including Facebook and Twitter, to remove offensive material from their websites.

Julian Assange founder of wikileaks wearing ANONYMOUS mask in public conferrence

Wikileaks' founder Julian Assange has donned a Guy Fawkes' Anonymous mask in what he claims to be his "last public appearance" at a pre-Baftas event in London.
Less than a week before his extradition ruling, Assange talked publicly about his role in the documentary Shadows of Liberty, which is about press freedom in the US.
He chose to wear a mask which has become associated with the hacking collective Anonymous, which has staged several cyber-attacks to websites of governments and organisations all over the world.
"It's probably my last time in public so I thought I should start with a situation where you won't be able to see me anymore," he said in an interview with ABC news
Assange could be extradited to Sweden in a month to face sexual assault allegations. He is accused of raping a woman in Stockholm back in 2010.

A panel of seven Supreme Court Judges are set to decide on the issue. He denies the claims and says they are politically motivated for its works with Wikileaks.
"I think all of us are at their best when we are pursuing an ideal that we find to be important to ourselves and important to others," Assange said. "I feel that I've made my days count, so I certainly would not want to exchange days that be counted with days that cannot."
If he loses the UK appeal next week there could be another one at the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg.
"One last avenue of appeal to the European Court of Human Rights and it would be for the courts to determine whether it will hear that appeal but we should get that back very, very quickly if the appeal is filed," human rights lawyer Jennifer Robinson told ABC news.
Assange's lawyers told the judges that the Swedish prosecutor who issued the European Arrest Warrant did not have the authority to do so.
In November 2011, the High Court upheld a ruling by District Judge Howard Riddle that the 40-year-old Australian founder of Wikileaks should be extradited to face investigation.
Assange wore the white version of the mask, which was designed by V for Vendetta author Alan Moore in the likeness of 16th-century Catholic terrorist Guy Fawkes. on his way to an Occupy London rally on October 11 last year.
